M<\/span><\/strong>omodou Ndow is an award-wining Gambian<\/span> writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He currently works as a Records Coordinator for a law firm in San Francisco and has over 20 years of experience working in records at San Francisco law firms. Born and raised in The Gambia<\/span>, he moved to the United States in 1989. He attended Holy Names University in Oakland, where he obtained a Bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n

Momodou published his first book The Mischievous Mosquitoes of Banjul<\/a><\/span> in November 2022, which won an award at the BookFest Awards<\/span><\/a>, spring 2023. The book is the first of five books in his Memories of a Gambian Child<\/span> children\u2019s book series under his Mo<\/span>Books<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span> brand. It is his hope that the books will be introduced in schools to encourage early reading<\/span> while sensitizing children<\/span> about the environment, health and other important issues.<\/p>\n

In his spare time, Momodou enjoys watching<\/span> and playing soccer<\/span>, traveling<\/span> abroad, and writing<\/span> commentary on a range of issues relating to The Gambia, Gambians, and society at large. His goal is to push the conversation to the next level, especially in his Gambian community.<\/p>\n

He is also passionate about community work and was a mentor for at-risk kids in the San Francisco Unified School District for 6 years. He was recognized for his contribution in the community with the Caesar Chavez Peace Award<\/span> in 2014.<\/p>\n
